Proper Reception of the Eucharist
“Whenever you eat this Bread and drink this Cup you proclaim the death of the Lord until He comes.” The accepted standard for Holy Communion reminds us that we are to do so in that manner. When we approach the minister to take the Body of Christ, the recommended gesture is a bow of the head. Our hands are to be cupped to receive the bread (or our tongue extended). This also applies to those receiving the Precious Blood. Jesus at the Last Supper, holding up His cup, said “take and drink” so the communicant is to bow and drink from the Communion Cup. Dipping of the Body of Christ into the chalice is not an accepted norm. The Mass is a meal par excellence, in which God nourishes his people again and again. We should do all we can to allow its symbols to speak to us as fully as they can of the unity and love of sharing the bread and wine.
Anointing For Those In Need We offer once a year a special "Anointing Mass" for those in poor health or facing surgery. But sometimes we are faced with unexpected surgery at some other time or on short notice. Because these things happen, we would like to offer you the chance of an Anointing and special blessing at one of the weekday Masses, Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday, 12 Noon. If you desire this offering, you may call the Church Office at 455-3620 a few days ahead and Father Kuras will give the Anointing and all those attending will pray for you. Their prayers are powerful. We hope you will take advantage of this special offering in your stressful times of need.
